Angela is the writer behind She Went Wear. She is a young travel and fashion addict.
What type of traveller would you say you are?
I’m definitely hard to define when travelling, it all depends on the trip. On short trips, I’m the site seeing traveller. On longer trips, I like to travel like a local and not have an itinerary.
What is the first trip you remember taking and how old were you?
When I was around 5 my parents took me to Disney World. That’s the first trip I remember, but if you were to look at old photographs my parents have, I’ve been travelling since I was an infant!
What is the one thing that you always carry inside your backpack?
My journal. I love re-reading my first thoughts while on a new adventure. It also helps when blogging because I often post when the adventure is over, so it’s nice to have things I jotted down to refresh my memory.
Do you prefer to travel alone or with someone? Why?
I like to mix it up! I definitely find myself taking more solo trips than with friends, but both are equally appealing. The key to travelling with someone is understanding that while they may be a great person to hang out with locally, they may have a completely different travel style than you which could cause friction. Avoid friction!
What is the one place that you would highly recommend others to travel to?
Barcelona, Spain – it is truly a vibrant beautiful city which has something to do for everyone. The city is also walking friendly, so you can get lost and stumble upon some pretty amazing sites.
What’s the worst place that you have stayed in for sleeping? What’s the best?
A hostel in London with 15 other bunk mates was definitely the worst. While the best was The K West Hotel & Spa in London that I checked into after one night at that crappy hostel. Haha.
Do you have any challenging and bad experience while travelling?
Travelling while sick is extremely challenging! On two occasions when I visited Paris, France I became suddenly ill on my flight. I was the awkward girl vomiting in the bathroom stall. You have to remember that your health is more important than the trip, so on both trips, I took a couple of days off from exploring so that I could gain my strength back.
If you were not travelling what would you be doing instead?
I work in marketing as a tour manager, but the job is extremely flexible and travel is a key component of the job…. So I’m always travelling. Ha
Are you planning a new trip or do you already have a new trip in mind?
I’m currently planning a month long trip to Asia in the fall.
Share with us about She Went Wear
She Went Wear is a travel and fashion focused blog the website is live in March 2016, so it’s still a baby! I created my website because I was tired of thinking about it and not acting on it.
Do you have any advice or tips for aspiring travellers?
Don’t become fixated on long haul trips to Europe, South America, etc. Being a traveller is not defined by how far you go, it’s more about the ground you discover.
